Everything That You Need To Know About Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Institutes

Maintenance engineering is the new yes in the market now! With plethora of opportunities, students are looking forward to it with equal enthusiasm. Discover more in the article here!

India took its first flight in the year 1911. Post that, airplanes became a way of life. The years of scientific research, testing and evaluation leading to the invention of modern flying machine which has narrowed the gap between the continents and broaden the horizon. The most modern and sophisticated aviation industry today, needs trained aircraft personnel to keep the aircraft in top condition. Aviation industry has some international standards that are required to be maintained by its man power especially the aircraft maintenance engineering. These personnel ensure the safety of the aircraft before it takes off. Aircraft Maintenance engineers or AME enjoy a very high reputation of full time job.

The big names
Indian Institute of Aircraft engineering established in 1998 has brought about a revolution in the standards of aircraft engineering in the country. IIAE has emerged as one of the top ranking institutions in the country. IIAE professionals are working with major airlines contributing their specialized maintenance skills to the aviation industry. IIAE provides new avenues for Maintenance engineering studies for young individuals.

The further relaxation of open sky policy in 2004 altogether 14 airlines has started operation in the country. The latest generation aircrafts that been brought in by these airlines require skillful engineers to handle its maintenance. To this view many AME institutes have been established to meet the future and present need of Indian aviation.

These institutes require a minimum qualification of 10+2 with a minimum of 50% aggregate in PCM combination. The maintenance courses include avionics, Jet engine, Electrical system, Instrument system. These courses have been largely split into 3 years. These institutes have been constantly updating their infrastructure keeping in view the growth of the aviation industry and the international standards. Most of the classrooms are fitted with the latest teaching aids like overhead projectors, LCDs and are also supported by audio visual aids. This gives the students a partial practical understanding. These institutes are also feature workshops equipped with aircraft and engine inspection equipment which is a simulation of the real life aircraft.

These institutes also have libraries housing books covering vast variety of subjects. Some of these institutes have a boarding/Hostel facility. Following is the list of some of the aircraft maintenance engineering institutes in India:
